The ideal way to use Anafranil is to follow the instructions of your doctor. An alternative way is to check the medicine label for dosage instructions.

Anafranil should be taken with a meal to avoid stomach problems. But never take it on an empty stomach.

It may be 3 weeks or more before you start noticing the effect of Anafranil.

Missed Dose

It is important that you maintain a strict schedule for taking Anafranil to ensure that you do not miss any doses. But if you do, then you may take it as soon as you remember provided that you space out the next dosage accordingly.

On the other hand, if it is almost time for the next dose, then omit this dose and continue with your normal dosage schedule.

Never consume two doses to compensate for a missed dosage.

Storage

Store Anafranil between 68 to 77 degrees F (20 and 25 Degrees), at room temperature. Ensure that you protect it from direct exposure to heat/moisture/light and from the reach of children and pets.

Avoid storing Anafranil in the bathroom.
The recommended dosage for Anafranil is 25 mg 2 or 3 times daily or 75 mg once daily in slow released form.

A Anafranil overdose may have certain adverse symptoms like bluish skin or mucous membranes, breathing problems, chest pain, confusion, dry mouth, enlarged pupils, excess sweating, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, flushing, incoordination, involuntary movements, loss of consciousness, restlessness, rigid muscles and even coma which may require immediate medical attention. So please contact your doctor or the local poison center immediately if you suspect that the patient has overdosed on Anafranil.
You must avoid taking alcoholic beverages while using Anafranil as it can increase the chances of becoming drowsy, faint or dizzy. Potentially hazardous tasks like driving, handling heavy machinery should also be avoided.
